What this site does not do
Candour compares products. It does not assess whether one is suitable for you, and it never will — that assessment needs your medical history and a person who is accountable for the answer.
The important bits
Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet or a healthy lifestyle. Nothing on this site is medical advice, a diagnosis, or a recommendation to take, start or stop anything. A high preference match means a product fits what you told us you wanted. It is not evidence that it will do anything for you.
Individual responses differ enormously, including between people taking the same product at the same dose. Product information, formulations, allergen declarations and prices change frequently — always read the label on the pack you actually receive.
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, take prescription medication, are managing a health condition, or are under 18, speak to a pharmacist, GP or registered dietitian before starting anything new. Pharmacists in particular will answer a supplement question in a few minutes and will not charge you for asking.
If something is urgent, contact NHS 111, your GP or emergency services. Do not wait for an appointment through this site.
Language we do not use
The wording on a supplement label does a great deal of work. Here is the difference between how this category usually talks and how we try to.
Instead of / we say
This will reverse ageing
Contains ingredients often associated with skin elasticity research
This cures fatigue
Commonly used by people looking to support energy levels
This prevents disease
Worth discussing with a qualified professional
This will fix your skin
May suit people looking for a hydration-focused formula
Guaranteed results
Individual responses differ, sometimes a great deal
If any of this applies to you
Notices we show alongside your results
These appear in your results when you tell us they are relevant. We show them as information, never as an assessment of whether something is safe for you.
Pregnant or breastfeeding
Several ingredients that appear in these categories are not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding, including ashwagandha, saw palmetto and higher-strength vitamin A. Please check any product with a midwife, pharmacist or GP before starting it.
Taking prescription medication
Some supplements interact with prescription medication — St John's wort, high-dose vitamin K and iron are common examples. A pharmacist can check your specific list in a few minutes and there is no charge for asking.
Known allergies
We list declared allergens on every product page, but formulations change. Always read the current label on the pack you receive rather than relying on a comparison site.
Managing a health condition
If you are managing a health condition, a GP, pharmacist or registered dietitian is much better placed than any comparison tool to say what fits alongside your treatment.
Under 18
Most of the products on this platform are formulated and labelled for adults. If you are under 18, please speak to a parent, carer or healthcare professional before taking anything.
Reporting a side effect
In the UK, suspected side effects from a supplement or medicine can be reported through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme. It takes a few minutes and it is how problems get spotted.Questions about a specific product? Speak with a registered professional.
